Information to Join any Highland Athletic Team
In order to attend the tryout for any of these teams, all athletes MUST have a current physical (within the past 395 days) on file with the school nurse as well as a signed permission slip If you have any questions, please contact the Athletic Director, Mrs. Langlie, or the school nurse. Students should check with the school nurse or the coach to see that they have a current physical on file before the first tryout.
6th Grade Sports Opportunities for Cut Sports
After the tryouts/clinics for each sport are completed, if there are not enough seventh-graders to fill a complete roster for any 7/8th grade cut sport, there will be a separate tryout for any sixth-graders who would like to fill the remaining spots. At no time will a seventh grader lose a roster spot to a sixth grader, regardless of ability.
If there are no available spots, then sixth graders will not be able to attend a tryout.
- For cheer and poms, to learn the routines, sixth-graders can attend the clinics. They will be informed at the clinics whether they can attend the tryout on the final day based on the number of seventh- and eighth-graders attending.
- For soccer, because of the short tryout window, 6th graders can attend the tryouts. If at the first tryout, there are enough 7th and 8th graders to fill the roster, they will be notified to NOT attend the second day of tryouts.
- For all other sports, after the second tryout, if there are remaining sports, there will be a separate sixth-grade tryout date announced.
- If you have questions, please contact the HMS Athletic Director, MRS. LANGLIE.
***Requirements for students to participate in any HMS sport***
- A completed and signed permission slip - this can be found under paperwork above.
- A current (dated within the past 395 days) physical must be on file with the school nurse. This can be scanned or photographed and emailed to the nurse or dropped off in the school office.
