Equity and Inclusion - HMS
Our aim is to foster the Highland Middle School environment so that students feel that they belong, value multiple points of view, & respect each other's differences.
During the 2020-2021 school year, a group of HMS Staff members began the important work of focusing on equity and inclusion at HMS. The committee's work will be ongoing. Our initial areas of focus include: Teacher Resources, The Highland Community, Policy & Practice, and Professional Development.
Teacher Resources
Work with the District 70 K-8 Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee to collaborate and be consistent with all of D70.
The Highland Community
Collaborate with all Highland Community stakeholders to develop a school environment that supports our committee's aim.
Practices and Procedures
Examine our current practices and procedures at Highland Middle School to align with our committee's aim.
Professional Development
Develop and procure training opportunities for teaching staff at Highland Middle School that support an equitable and inclusive school environment.
