Learn About the Surprising Science of Goodness Sept. 26
Learn about the science of human goodness when Jami Zaki talks about his book, Hope for Cynics: The Surprising Science of Human Goodness, at 7 p.m. on Sept. 26 via Zoom.
Jami was interviewed by Robert Sapolsky on Zoom. A recording of the event can be found online.
Zaki is a professor of psychology at Stanford University and director of the Stanford Social Neuroscience Laboratory. Zaki is dynamic, engaging, kind, funny, and knows his research. He will talk about his new book where we don’t have to remain stuck in a cynicism trap. Through science and storytelling, Zaki imparts the secret for beating back cynicism: hopeful skepticism—thinking critically about people and our problems, while honoring and encouraging our strengths. Far from being naïve, hopeful skepticism is a precise way of understanding others that can rebalance our view of human nature and help us build the world we truly want.
