Please mark your calendars for September 12th. Student pictures will be taken at Highland Middle School during PE/Health/Life Skills classes.
Students were given their picture order forms in their studio one this week. Students should bring these order forms/money to school on picture day.
If you or your student forgets to bring the form back to school, please visit shop.hrimaging.com after they have been photographed for purchasing options.
We will also have informational cards in the Student Services office. Students can stop by and pick up a card with the needed information if they forget to bring in their packets.
Retakes are an option if you or your student are not satisfied with the pictures taken. Absentee/Retake Day will take place on October 17th.
Please note: Students must bring the entire picture package back and give it to the photographer on retake day. Keep in mind, the retake picture is what will appear in the yearbook.
Picture refunds are also an option. If for any reason a student/parent is not happy with his/her pictures a full refund will be issued by HR Imaging. In order to receive a full refund, the ENTIRE original picture packet needs to be returned to HR Imaging within 5 days along with a note requesting a refund. They are not able to issue refunds after 15 days from picture delivery.
2. 6th grade Outdoor Education
Gold – Monday, October 21, 2024 – Wednesday, October 23, 2024
Maroon – Wednesday, October 23, 2024 - Friday, October 25, 2024
The purpose of Outdoor Education is to instill an appreciation, understanding and awareness of nature. We encourage this by providing a rich experience in an outdoor setting. Related lessons and experiences in other subject areas are also provided.
The physical and mental challenges presented during this trip are designed to help students learn about themselves as individuals and as members of a group. This trip is also an excellent opportunity for the students to build new friendships and become a unified Highland Hornet sixth grade.
The Parent/Teacher Advisory Committee (PTAC) has been created and designed to engage our learning community in discussion and dialogue about the education of our students. The Highland PTAC will focus on topics regarding our school’s climate, culture, curriculum, programming, procedures and any other areas that may impact our students and the learning environment.
The members of the Highland Parent/Teacher Advisory Committee will be a well-informed group in order to provide support and guidance for our learning community during the school year. The Highland Parent/Teacher Advisory Committee will help identify areas of growth for our school and then offer suggestions to administration and staff as we work to address the identified areas.
Our Parent/Teacher Advisory Committee includes: Parents/Guardians from each grade level, Highland Middle School faculty, and District 70 administrators. We intend to maintain a committee that is representative of the diversity of our Highland Middle School community.
Please use the link below to apply for this committee. Selected committee members will attend our first meeting which will be held on Thursday, September 26th at 6:30 pm in the Highland Learning Center.
Parents/guardians of Highland Middle School students are invited to our Coffee and Connections meeting. The meeting provides parents the opportunity to meet with administration and other parents in an informal setting to make connections with other families, have access to administrators for questions, and learn about events and programming at Highland Middle School.
Attendance will be limited so that each session can remain informal. Additional opportunities will take place later in the year.
