8th Grade: The Next Step

Most students who graduate  from Highland Middle School attend Libertyville High School.  During student's eighth grade year,  several events happen to prepare  and celebrate students for this next journey. 

Libertyville High School (LHS) PSAT™ - All 8th grade students entering Libertyville High School or Vernon Hills High School in the year following their 8th grade year are encouraged to participate in a Saturday administration of the PSAT™ 8/9 (Preliminary SAT) at the high school they will attend. The class of 2027 is scheduled to take their PSAT on October 15th, 2022. Specific information and instructions for students will be mailed from each school as the next school year begins.  The  PSAT™ is proctored by District 128.  If you have questions, please contact Libertyville High School, (847) 327-7000

Freshman Registration for LHS - Libertyville High School will send out information regarding registration.  Please look out for emails for this.  Course Selection for Grade 8 for LHS provides more information.  This Freshman Timeline provides an overview of the process for starting at LHS.  

8th Grade Class Shirts -  Class  shirts are created by 8th grade students.  Student Council will send information regarding deadlines for this project.  

8th Grade Diploma Form -   8th grade parents should fill out the 8th grade Diploma Form in the fall.  

End of the year activities - 8th grade students are celebrated with an end of the year graduation ceremony.  Other activities such as end of the year picnic also are celebrated may vary from year to year.  Information will be shared in the spring.
