8th Grade: The Next Step
Most students who graduate from Highland Middle School attend Libertyville High School. During student's eighth grade year, several events happen to prepare and celebrate students for this next journey. Important information for 8th grade families will be placed on this page throughout the school year.
8th Grade Diploma Form - 8th grade parents should fill out the 8th grade Diploma Form in the fall.

Whenever possible, we will collect information from Libertyville High School and post it here for your convenience.

Libertyville High School (LHS) PreACT - Current 8th grade students who live in the District 128 boundary are automatically registered for this important high school placement assessment. For more information, click HERE.
Important Dates
- December 2025: PreACT results will be shared with 8th grade families
- January 5, 2026: Deadline to set-up D128 PowerSchool account. (You will not be able to complete course selection until this is completed.)
- January 8, 2026, 6-8 pm: LHS 8th Grade Orientation Night for 8th grade students and their caregivers
- January-February 2026: Course selection for the 2026-2027 school year
- January 26, 2026: Choice Zone Family declarations due
- March 12, 2026: 8th Grade Activities & Athletics Fair
- June 1-June 25, 2026: Registration for the 2026-2027 school year
- August 5, 2026: Freshman Orientation with Link Crew
- August 10, 2026: First day of school
