In the next 5 days we will be recognizing International Noise Awareness Day, which focuses on protecting our hearing. Many people don't realize that loud sounds can permanently damage your ears. Once hearing is lost, it usually cannot be restored. Learning how to protect your hearing now can help you enjoy music, conversations, and every day sounds for the rest of your life. For the next week we will be sharing tips on how noise can impact our hearing and what we can all do to protect it and a trivia question each day.

Highland, did you know that tomorrow is Earth Day? In honor of Earth Day, the Green Team will be giving you daily Earth Day facts during the morning announcements. Today’s fact is that Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970, and this year marks our 54th Earth Day.

We want to make you aware of a trend we are starting to see with students. Some students have been bringing caffeine pouches and caffeine gum to school. These products contain concentrated caffeine and are not allowed at Highland.
Even though they are sold in stores, they can impact your focus, sleep, and overall health. They also fall under our school rules related to substances that affect your body.
If you bring or use caffeine pouches or caffeine gum at school, it may result in consequences such as confiscation, parent contact, or further disciplinary action.
If you have questions or are feeling tired during the day, please reach out to a teacher or the Nurse’s Office. We are here to help.
Thanks for taking care of yourselves and each other, and have a great day.
